Bath and a Pea Souper

Woke up early in our attic room, so we set off for Cardiff Castle. Note to Michelle's Pa and sister Sharon, we went in! There was a 12th century keep in the middle of an enormous walled area. Off to one side was a later building that had been added to over the centuries, finally been practically rebuilt in the mid 18 hundreds in a very ostentatious religious way by the 5th Earl of Bute. No expense spared. Inside there was something we didn't expect. Around the whole property underground but against the wall they built an air raid shelter for World War Two. How's that!
We set off for Bath and the Roman Baths. Well that was amazing. The ingenuity of those people 2000 years ago is unbelievable. Bath the town, is unique in it's architecture all smooth sandstone buildings.
Upon leaving Bath we set the GPS to Port Isaac and it once again led us on a merry dance though the now familiar small skinny roads and back blocks and absolutely spectacular scenery of a place called Chew Valley in Somerset.
Down south through Devon the weather got worse and then the fog rolled in and visibility was poor. My trusty driver got us there though, and as we came over a steep rise there was Port Wenn! I mean Port Isaac which looks exactly like it does on Doc Martin. We are in the  attic of a cute little B&B just down the road from Louisa's school.
Good night and Happy Birthday Maddsy, Big Kiss, love you. Mum
