We started the day at sparrow fart,(an uncle Jack saying) at the lovely old b&b, situated just up the road from the ferry dock. Being unsure of the procedure for boarding we got there early and found ourselves the third car in line to board, which also made us the third off at Belfast. Although it was windy is was a pleasant 2 and a half hours spent in lounge chairs with drinks and nibbles at our fingertips. As soon as we disembarked we were virtually straight on to a freeway through Belfast which from what we saw looked a little grim. Uneventful road down to Dublin and I'm thinking, well this landscape could be anywhere even Australia! Uneventful, particularly when we crossed the border, Michelle may be in therapy for months, she was beside herself that nobody cared that she had left the UK and entered the Republic of Ireland, even 'quietly' checked with someone at a service station, and suggested reporting ourselves to the local 'Garda' (police).
We got to the Old School House where Michelle had booked us and were pleasantly surprised it was really beautiful with a great dining room with lots of dark wood and big fireplaces. We had a little rest then an early dinner so we could get to the Duke Hotel for our Literary Pub Crawl. As we walked up the road we passed the Birthplace and residence of Oscar Wilde with a fantastic memorial to him in the park across the road. The pub crawl was really great with two actors playing parts from famous plays while we walked through Trinity College and into a few of these amazing pubs with nooks an cranny's. A great night. Maree.
